Dear parents,

I am pleased to take this opportunity to introduce myself to you and to welcome your child to my class. I believe that a good learning experience is built on a cooperative effort among parent, child and teacher, and I really look forward to the work and growth we will all accomplish this year. To give you an opportunity learn more about me as a teacher, I will write a few words about my educational background and professional experience. I graduated from English Teacher Training College at Warsaw University and this year I am going to obtain a master’s degree in Polish Studies. I have five years’ experience in teaching at Berlitz Language Centre, including one and a half year’s experience on the position of Local Manager of Instruction. As a student I have gained some experience in childcare working as a nanny in Switzerland. I started my cooperation with Canadian School of Warsaw last year as a substitute teacher of the second grade. I have always enjoyed teaching and I hope I will manage to establish rapport with my new students and make their time spent at school exciting and educational. I want your child to truly enjoy the learning process, and I want to help him/her to develop his/her own motivation for learning. I hope to do my best to encourage your child to succeed in his/her attempts to learn. I would be grateful if you could help by providing me with any information that will aid me in better understanding your child.
The things I am most interested in include:

Please, find enclosed a welcoming letter to your children and a list of supplies. I would be very grateful if you could go through the letter and the list together with your children. I hope it will facilitate the process of getting accustomed with the idea of going to their new school and meeting their new teacher. Again, welcome! Please, feel free to contact me about any questions or concerns you may have. I look forward to meeting you.

Best regards,
Urszula Szpakowska
