Dear Grade 3 parents,

My name is Simona Klijewicz and I will be your child’s Main Teacher during this school year. Allow me to write a few words about myself, to describe some of my expectations and ideas for the approaching academic year and to depict briefly my plans for the first day of school. This is my 9th year teaching young children; my work experience includes teaching English to 6 to 12-year-old students in France, and my 4th year at the Canadian School of Warsaw. For the past three years I’ve been the Main Teacher for the same group of children- Grade 2 to 4.
Some of you might remember me as your children’s Grade 1 Language Arts teacher. I kept in touch with all of them during this past academic year and this is one of the reasons why I love this school so much: it’s a growing school but it’s still small enough for the teachers to know and interact with all children so our students feel safe and confident during the lessons and after school. I must say that I’m quite impressed with your children’s cleverness, aptitude, attitude, hard work as well as their behaviour; and I give a lot of credit to their previous main teachers.
As we will meet more formally at the end of the first week, I’ll give you more details about my ideas for this new school year and I’ll inform you about my motivational system during our first PT meeting. This year, I would like to encourage my students to read as much as possible and a Reading Program ‘Read to Feed’ will be presented to you during our first PT Conference. I would also like my pupils to work on their spelling and writing skills. Keeping a journal at this age is excellent and the first day of school is a great day to start one. I would very much like to involve my students’ parents as much as possible so if you have any ideas for fieldtrips, presentations or any suggestions, please don’t hesitate to bring them up.
