Thanksgiving
Dear Parents,
Thanksgiving has been celebrated at the Canadian School since we began, and is a firm favourite amongst children in the school, as it neatly combines good food with dressing up – basically a strong sense of occasion.
This special occasion will be celebrated on Thursday, 22th of November.
Please remember to provide appropriate fancy dress for the day – Pilgrims or Indians.
Additionally, this year there will be a competition to focus on, entitled ‘What I Am Thankful For’, where children can present written, spoken or 2D artwork to the rest of the school. Winners from each age category shall receive a prize.
The plan for the day is as follows:
09.00–11.00: Classes to be held as usual (with Thanksgiving theme).
11.00–12.30: Competition presentations.
12.30–14.00: Lunch (Smilies, Sweet Apples and 1st grade together in the Smilies’ classroom.
The rest of the school in the lunchroom).
14.00–16.00: Thanksgiving activities.
This year it will not be obligatory to supply so much food for Thanksgiving (Nov 22nd) – simply some after dinner treats, such as cakes, biscuits etc. – since we will celebrate Christmas Eve with another dinner, just a short time later (18th Dec. for Kindergarten and Grade 1, 19th Dec. for the rest of the school), which shall also require provisions from you. However, the more the merrier, and as such we would be delighted to accept as many pumpkin pies and turkeys as are on offer.
Best regards,
Emilia Fronc
