Principal’s Newsletter – DECEMBER – 06.12.2011

December is here!

To begin with, I would like to thank those of you who attended last week’s Charity Bazaar at the Marriott Hotel: the school community was ideally represented, with teachers, students and parents all chipping in to make it a memorable and rewarding experience.

Likewise, on behalf of myself, the school management, the teachers and all the children in the school, I would like to express my most sincere thanks to those of you who provided all the tasty treats on Thanksgiving Day.

We are also very grateful for all the charitable contributions that have been collected this year on behalf of those less fortunate than ourselves, while in doing so, the children of the school have also shown a great deal of compassion and understanding for their fellowmen.

EVENTS:

· Parent/teacher OPEN DAYS

The 13th, 14th and 15th of December have been reserved for you to discuss your child’s progress with their subject teachers. Should you be interested, sign-up sheets are now on display in the main entrance of the school.

· Teachers and students are currently in the process of preparing for this year’s Christmas shows. The schedule for each class is as follows:

On the day of their show the participants will not attend extra activities and remain with their class for the last preparations.

· On December 16th, students from Grade 3 would like to invite all Parents to a photo exhibition – supported by the Polish Humanitarian Action.

The beautiful display will be a part of Grade 3’s summative assessment for their current unit. The students are collecting money in order to help rebuild a school in Afghanistan.

ORGANIZATIONAL ISSUES:

· In order to improve the quality of afternoon common room time at Bełska, the school will hire common room coordinator.

We also ask Parents to inform teachers on duty that a child is being taken from school, as well as ensure that you sign your child out on the ‘sign out’ sheets, located by the main entrance.

We kindly ask you to follow the new procedures accordingly and recognize the importance of our requests.

Changes effective from December 6th

· As with every year, once the colder – and somewhat messier – weather closes in, we ask that Parents do not accompany children through the classrooms and instead, in the interest of cleanliness, retrace their steps, leaving via the backdoor entrance/exit.

We would thoroughly appreciate your cooperation on this matter.

COMMON ROOM INFORMATION:

As you have no doubt discovered, after lessons children can be collected from their respective common room.

Where students go after regular classes:

· Students from the 3rd floor (Grades 2a, 2b, 3) can be found on the 3rd floor until 4.30, at which point they go to grade 1b’s classroom on the 2nd floor.

· Students from Grades 4 and 5 can be found in Grade 4’s classroom, from 4 to 6 p.m.

· As of 5 p.m. all students are in Grade 4a classroom (next to the lunchroom).

· After 4.30, should children be involved in extra activities, we ask that Parents wait downstairs in the lunchroom.

· If you are not sure where your child might be, Mr. Bogdan – our security guard – has a list detailing where your child can be found.

I wish you all a very pleasant month and hope you manage to enjoy the up and coming winter season.

Best regards,

Emilia Fronc, principal
