WHY?
The Canadian School of Warsaw has for over ten years now been actively promoting innovation and intercultural awareness in creative approaches to teaching and learning. With a transdisciplinary curriculum and inquiry based programme in place we’ve been working with various educators and teaching experts towards redesigning traditional approaches to teaching and learning with special focus on ‘life –long learning’ and ‘learner centred’ as well as ‘inquiry based classroom experience’. Innovation and creative approaches to teaching and learning are currently a key priority in Polish national education, which is currently being redesign. The Canadian School of Warsaw takes pride in being one of the leaders in the change providing not only professional insight but providing educators with wide training possibilities.
The participants will learn about:
• how private school sector promotes innovative approaches to teaching and learning
• how teachers collaborate, plan and prepare for inquiry-based, transdisciplinary experience in the classroom
• various functions and use of student portfolio in reporting and assessment
• new approaches to student assessment in preschools, primary, middle school and high school level
• the importance of self and peer evaluation in formative and summative assessment
• how to use content and language integrated learning ( CLIL)as an all-school approach
The participants will:
• visit a preschool, primary, middle and high school involved in CLIL inquiry based programme implementation
• meet and collaborate with teachers, workshop leaders, coordinators and principals responsible for planning and organisation of the use of CLIL and transdisciplinary teaching and learning
• observe CLIL being used in inquiry based classroom level experience at all levels (preschool to high school)
• have the opportunity to shadow and interview chosen educators from all levels of education throughout their daily routine (teaching, prep time, collaborative meetings, training etc.)
• explore the design of new curriculum, programme implementation and planning scheme (panel of experts sessions)
• share opportunities and experience and identify good practice as well as plan for further networking possibilities
• directors of education and vocational training institutions, centres or providers,
• head teachers, teacher trainers,
• heads of departments,
• representatives of education and training networks and associations,
• researchers.
