Dear Parents,
My name is Adam Black – a.k.a. Mr. Adam – I am a native English speaker from Dorset in the south of England, and I am delighted to be reprising my role as lead teacher for grade 1b.
Since specialising in eduction, I have amassed 6 years of early learning teaching experience: 4 years with kindergarten aged children (3 years as lead teacher for Sweet Apples at the CSW), as well as completed an additional year in a Montessori environment. Since living in Warsaw, I have also worked as a full time conversation tutor at Poniatowskiego high school.
I am fully aware of the responsibilities of my position, and the significance that this academic year holds for your child, since it heralds the beginning of their new life in school, where each and every consecutive year will place greater emphasis upon the key skills – reading, writing and arithmetic – and increasingly focus upon a greater awareness of science, culture and environment, both social and ecological.
It will therefore be my task to encourage your child’s inherent appetite for learning, and to guide it in a logical and methodical way, so that these skills may in turn establish themselves as naturally as possible, with the least amount of difficulty, frustration and confusion. Thankfully, this is made considerably easier by having both the wealth of resources and academic support of the the school – as well as the IB – behind me at all times.
For many of you, the use of English in the classroom is a key incentive for sending your child to an international school, and I promise not to disappoint for two reasons: firstly, I do not speak Polish, and secondly, I love the English language in all its forms, and am adept at igniting a similar enthusiasm among my students.
I share a great affinity with children and am sure you will be pleased with my work. I look forward to getting to know both you and your child, and am confident that we have a successful and rewarding year ahead of us.
